Dear Nick,

Financial impact of Covid-19

Thank you for your letter of 7 May 2020, updating the Committee on the arrangements your office has put in place to deal with the impact of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Committee acknowledges the steps you have put in place to mitigate adding further pressure to public services whilst ensuring that your office is still open and accessible to the public.

The pandemic has necessitated a change of working practices for most public service organisations and the Committee is keen to understand the impact of Covid 19 on the bodies funded directly from the Welsh Consolidated Fund. I would be grateful if you could provide an update for the Committee detailing the impact that Covid-19 has had on this year’s finances, including any savings and extra costs. The Committee appreciates that whilst there might be savings from changes in working practices these may be off-set by other costs but it would be helpful to have a full break-down to enable us to fully consider the financial implications.

It would be helpful to receive your response by 7 July.

Yours sincerely

Llyr Gruffydd AM
Chair of the Finance Committee
